Earlier this year during a family road trip to Rochester, New York, our cousins there took us to the National Museum of Play.
It’s a place you can spend all day. A day of laughter, fun, and serious play. All around were reminders that we adults should take a cue from the kids to pause and take time to smell the roses. To play. Not serendipitously, but purposefully.
I planned on sharing my thoughts about the experience, but I think these pictures that I snapped at the museum speak for themselves.
In today’s always-on world, these images remind us to take playful breaks. I certainly need the reminder.
So enjoy, digest, then take a break and go out and play and pump up those creative juices.
play develops creativity, resilience, independence, and leadership
play develops confident, flexible minds that are open to new possibilities
play builds ability to solve problems, negotiate rules, and resolve conflicts
Everyone needs play. It is essential to learning, creativity, and discovery. It guides physical, intellectual, and social development. It drives innovation, increases productivity, and contributes to healthier lives.
