Now You Can See Everyone Who Views Your Facebook Profile. Why Take the Risk?

As of March 13, 2010, almost 400,000 people have signed up for: NOW YOU CAN SEE EVERY 1 WHO VIEWS YOUR PROFILE!!

Why?

The questionable instructions include:

change your privacy settings – to what?  to give access to this amateurish production?

Invite at least 50 of your Friends to This Event to Confirm your Membership – oh, you mean, impose on your Facebook friends? If 50 friends sign up for this, that’s 50 invitations I get!  Please, my friends, I’d rather you didn’t.Amid halting english – “it’s possible to see who….spying you” and “every 1″ – the amateurish instructions links to whosee.me which is actually a sign-up page for the feboz toolbar.

And what is Feboz?   Although it claims to be a social networking site, nothing coborates it.  There’s no Wikipedia entry. Their Facebook Fan page offers no information other than a link to their website.

It could be a somewhat unscrupulous attempt to sign up users, or worse, a serious security threat which could lead to identity theft, financial losses or unauthorized use of your personal information.

Almost 400,000 people (and growing) are willing to take their chances and sign up just to find out who’s viewing their profile?   Why?

Facebook, have you checked these guys out?  If anyone has information that I’m missing, I’d love to hear it.

Why are people willingly giving up their privacy and endangering that of their friends? This is just inviting trouble. Don’t fall for it!!!

I totally get the narcissism that a friend mentioned on Facebook, but you’re right A.J., at the risk of exposing one’s info (and others) to unknown entities?

Thanks for your comment, Alex. I provided a link to the full ad in my post. Questions and concerns remain about the intent of the advertisement and it’s legitimacy.

Good point Tim. I didn’t even think of the potential legal issues involved.

Thanks, Fred! The ethical and legal issues around third party applications that affect such a significant percentage of users is compounded, I think by Facebook’s lack of any meaningful response.

Lorraine, sorry for the late response. I never signed up for this program since it seemed quite suspect. Third party programs can often compromise the security and privacy with your Facebook account

Thanks to Alex for confirming that feboz is crap. His poor English matches the crap in the screen shot! So you set up a phishing site, and then you surf the Net looking for references, and then you pretend to be just another user and defend it. What a devious plan! Oh wait…no it isn’t…it’s incredibly simplistic, idiotic and has been done umpteen times.

Yeah, John, that was a bit transparent and lacking integrity

Hey, I am a member of Feboz. I am using it from the start. i dont found anything wrong in Feboz. its Safe. also got real features like color profile and who view my profile. i am amazed by seeing all these blogs against feboz. but i think you should all 1st check feboz than write something against it.
